Dearest friends,
I’m thrilled to announce that I’m launching a monthly online drawing club!
I’ve co-hosted the Folktale Week art challenge on Instagram for 3 years, and I truly love the community aspect of it. I adore discovering new artists & obscure stories, broadcasting my love for other people’s work, and the general enthusiasm for the prompts. I’d love to inspire that spirit and camaraderie through a monthly online session to make art. I also thoroughly enjoy researching and curating lovely and strange things, so I plan to share some striking images.
If you’re an artist in any niche that draws inspiration from history, film, and a bit of mischief–my drawing club may be the ticket for you!
I’m already brimming with ideas for future drawing sessions but for the first FREE session…
We’ll be drawing scenes from Downton Abbey! I was overjoyed to discover they’re filming a new season after 8 years, and I can’t think of a better way to commemorate the splendid news.
Fair warning, I will probably do my best worst British accent and say ‘Lord Merton’ 12 times.
Scroll on, chaps!
Sign up + Info
Date: Friday, March 15, 2024
Time: 9:00 am Pacific / 12:00 pm Eastern
Free to all!
Sign up HERE with Lu.ma and follow the link to RSVP - it will automatically convert the time to your zone AND you can add it to your calendar. Bravo!
We'll spend ~60 minutes on Zoom drawing from photos of props, scenes, and characters and hang on for an additional 15 minutes to share work and chatter away. This is a place for artists of any ‘n all skill level, medium, and level of enthusiasm. I won’t be sharing any tips or tricks for making art, just running the slide deck.
Never attended a drawing session on Zoom?
No bother at all - I’d love to have you! There are only 2 rules:
Have fun! No need to turn on your camera or speak or share your final art. Feeling sassy? Let’s chat about our fave moments and gossip about the worst characters. Just be a doll and toggle on mute if you have some background noise.
Criticism of the Dowager Countess/Queen Maggie Smith in any capacity may result in side eye glare and shocked gasps. You’ve been warned!
Never seen Downton Abbey?
Not a worry! You’ve got 10 full days to abandon all responsibility and devour every episode in one gluttonous run.
I kid! Please join if you’re a fan of period dramas, costuming, PBS/BBC television..or if you just fancy a drawing session without worrying what to draw. Us fans may love a snob, but we certainly won’t behave like one. YOU are welcome!
Wait, why am I calling it Lady Mary’s Sketching Trip?
Well, because we’ll all be sketching or creating in some capacity. But more so because it’s a nod to season 5, episode 2.
Questions? Quips?
Please leave a comment or DM me if you’re feeling shy. +10 points if you share this post and/or comment with your fave quote/scene from the show.
I’m absolutely beaming, friends. I hope you’ll RSVP yes.
Yours truly,
Kaly
Yay! I’m very excited for this! Thanks for hosting.
Sounds brilliant! 😁
